Barbara Skinner is an assistant professor at the Department of History at Indiana State University (Terre Haute, Indiana). Her research centers on issues of religious development, culture, and identity in the Russian Empire and the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, with a particular focus on the Ukrainian and Belarusian peoples in the early modern period. She is currently completing book that assesses the religious tensions of the Orthodox and Uniate churches in the eighteenth century, entitled _The Eastern Church Between Poland and Russia: Confessional Identity and Conflict in the Era of Partition.
